Bob’s your uncle & Fanny’s your aunt, it’s that time of year again. Get those multi-coloured flags ready & start preparing those vodka jellies, it’s party time!
The Pride festival takes place between the 10-26th June in London, with the main celebrations on the weekend of the 25-26th June. I can’t wait to look dashing for this month’s eccentric celebrations.
Did you know that the first ever Pride took place in 1972 and has been going ever since? Us Brits can’t get enough of these flamboyant celebrations, drinking excessively and partying ‘til the early hours, but this blog comes with a caution. Compared to the rest of the UK, London has a higher proportion of men who have sex with men and they have the worst sexual health statistics.
According to Government research, Gay men accounted for 24% of all London residents diagnosed with a new STI in sexual health clinics in 2013. The most common infections being syphilis and gonorrhoea.
Another scary figure they found showed that 1 in 12 gay men in London are living with HIV and that number is increasing each year.
So how can you stay safe?
So my dear chaps, there is one very simple thing you can do to avoid the nasties, simply wrap up your Johnson! No matter how hard you and your pecker celebrate, keep a condom in your wallet and it could save your life (and your manhood).
I’m not telling you to avoid sex or go in with a microscope and rubber gloves (depending on your kink), simply wrapping up your member can keep you and your body safe from any STI’s or long-term health conditions.
If you do have an accident, make sure you get yourself checked pronto. The earlier the infections are detected the better, before they do any serious damage to your health.
If you have any questions about sexual health or want to get yourself checked quickly and privately, check out The Walk-in Clinic in London. Here to help you throughout the Pride celebrations.
Be proud and be safe.
See you at the bar, Chappie.
