Erectile Dysfunction – Not a Jolly Time!

ED Blog post 1

Do you have trouble getting your mop to prop? Does your whip ever drip? Is your fellow a bit mellow? What am I talking about? Well, I’m talking about erectile dysfunction, man! Oh yes, indeed, we’ve all been there.

You’re out for crumpets, the lemon cordial has gone to everyone’s heads and, before you know it, you’re in the back of a horse and carriage smooching the evening away. She asks, “your manor or mine?” A hop and a skip up to the boudoir, she’s untying her corset, you reach down to your pantaloons and… Oh heavens, it appears that old johnny doesn’t want to play.

Well, don’t worry old chap, it’s rather more common that one would think. According to a study from the Journal of Sexual Medicine, one out of every four new ED patients are under 40 years old. Beyond that number, things get even more droopy; Tobias Köhler, M.D., chief of the Division of Male Infertility at Southern Illinois University calculated, “roughly 40 percent of men in their 40s suffer from ED, 50 percent in their 50s, etc.”

What a pickle. The thing is, a lot of us fellows don’t realise that erectile dysfunction is often treatable. “What’s that you say? Often treatable?” Indubitably, old bean. No need to get yourself in a flap. You see, there are three common causes for erectile dysfunction, ‘narrowing of penis blood vessels, high blood pressure, high cholesterol’, ‘hormone problems’ or ‘side effects of prescribed medication’. Each of these has its own treatments and every chap is different! Depending on the circumstances, you might find that hormone replacements, medicine for blood pressure or statins to lower cholesterol are the right way to go and, sometimes, all a gent needs is some good old-fashioned exercise.

Indeed, exercise is a vital part of penis maintenance. When a man is sexually stimulated, his penis fills with blood. This blood gives him the firmness he needs for his sexual whatnots. Once he ejaculates, the blood flows out of the penis and back into the rest of his body. Without adequate blood flow, erection problems can occur. In some cases, the erection is weak. In others, the man is unable to have an erection at all. Not quite cricket! Luckily for us, exercise helps the circulatory system and keeps blood flowing smoothly throughout the body!

The most important thing, if you’re having consistent issues, is to go and see your trusted physician A.S.A.P and by that I mean as soon as poshable, poppet! Lingering ED issues can be a lot more difficult to overcome and are, occasionally, linked to something more serious. Now, time for a ride on the tandem.
