A Survivors Guide on How to Avoid Catching an STD During Fresher’s Week

September marks the start of a new academic year. Excitement builds as you flee the nest to go and pursue the life of adulthood in the realms of uni halls. These are the days you’ll look back on in decades to come.

For many of you chaps, this will be your first taste of freedom. Not only will you be learning what it’s like to live on a student budget, but this is also the prime time where most students really get to discover who they are. Adulthood is a pretty crazy phase to go through. You’ll understand the struggles of getting by every month without wanting to have a mental breakdown every five seconds. What it’s like to pay for your own food and rent and of course learning about your sexuality.

But hey, this blog post isn’t supposed to be me giving you an in-depth dialogue on common student struggles. We’re here to talk about Fresher’s week notorious for its cheap booze, hedonistic parties, pounding hangovers and let’s not forget sex.

Beyond all the craziness that fresher’s week has to offer, it is also known as the prime time to catch an STD. This year we must do better to protect our chappies!

This is your survival guide to getting through fresher’s week without catching an STD:

1. Don’t have unprotected sex unless you want to let it burn like the Usher song!

2. Always wrap it up so you will never be caught off guard!

3. If you’re so drunk and you can’t count how many fingers you have on your hands. Then sex is probably a bad idea.

4. STD’s aren’t the only risk you put yourself in danger of when having unprotected sex. Unwanted pregnancy is a huge risk too, no one wants to become a parent during Fresher’s week.

5. Her name is Lydia and it rhymes with Chlamydia. Don’t let a hot girl make you lose your common sense.
